A Love Poem for V-Day

She Tells Her Love -- Robert Graves

She tells her love while half asleep,
In the dark hours,
With half-words whispered low:
As Earth stirs in her winter sleep
And puts out grass and flowers
Despite the snow,
Despite the falling snow.

I love this poem... I posted it at my blog a few weeks back. :)

Me too!

Have you heard the Morten Lauridsen song cycle version?

Have you heard the Lee Hoiby song??

I played it with a mezzo a couple of years ago... it's funny how you HEAR lyrics like this instead of reading them, if that's the way you knew them first. I'd almost forgotten it was a poem.

I'll check out the Lauridsen version now. :)

SS,

We performed the Lauridsen as a choral-orchestral collaboration in our junior year. ^__^

So you probably will recognize it.

But you weren't in Choraliers or Collegiate Chorale then, right?
